Design Vision
The vision for BLACKWOOD DOONAN was to create a timeless yet modern sanctuary that harmonises with the surrounding landscape. The design features robust materials such as off-form concrete and black timber cladding, softened by extensive glazing that offers stunning views of the golf course and greenery. Central to this design philosophy was the inclusion of a fire pit that would mirror the project’s bold architectural lines while providing warmth and character.
EcoSmart Fire’s Stix 8 fireplace, designed by Barcelona-based Hiroshi Tsunoda, was selected for its contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional campfire. The geometric arrangement of varying-sized black tubular stainless-steel sticks creates a visually striking sculptural piece that perfectly complements the sunken living area by the wedge-shaped pool. This placement not only enhances the indoor-outdoor flow but also serves as a practical and aesthetic centrepiece.
